Each ride-day the Light the Trail team will #Ride4 a victim of suicide to honor and celebrate their life, and to further healthy conversation about this important topic. If there’s someone you’d like us to #Ride4, please visit the #Ride4 page.

November 1st, 2017: #Ride4 Zach Davis (by Renee Shannon)

Tell us about them…

Zach was my cousin and struggled in silence most of his life with depression and substance abuse, he was only 32 with a wonderful family and a beautiful 2 year old son whom he adored! He was a handsome funny guy that everybody loved to be around. When he walked into a room you felt his big smile and warm friendly personality!

How has your perspective of depression and suicide shifted over time?

I was and still am shocked that he would take his own life, I guess that is how most people feel. Can’t really make sense of it or feel like we could have done something different to help or save him. He was so young and had so much to live for. When I think I am having a bad day I think of him and it completely changes my out look on my life and try to live to honor him!

Is there a particular favorite song or band of theirs, or one you remember them by?

Dancing in the sky ~ Dani & Lizzy
