Each ride-day the Light the Trail team will #Ride4 a victim of suicide to honor and celebrate their life, and to further healthy conversation about this important topic. If there’s someone you’d like us to #Ride4, please visit the #Ride4 page.

October 31st, 2017: #Ride4 Jill Knick (by Melanie Lindeman)

Tell us about them…

Jill is missed dearly! She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend. She was such a selfless person; always taking care of others. We will walk every step with her forever in our hearts! Jill loved hummingbirds so that is our team name in remembrance of her.

Today and every day we honor Jill by being a voice for those who silently battle mental illness. Team Hummingbirds message to all those battling mental illness is:

How has your perspective of depression and suicide shifted over time?

In our case my Mom didn’t show classic signs of depression. Undiagnosed mental illness is more common than we think. I truly believe that conversations about mental health will encourage others to seek help.

A small special way we can celebrate them on the road?

Wear a hummingbird or #TEAMHUMMINGBIRDS

Is there a particular favorite song or band of theirs, or one you remember them by?

Saint Elmo’s fire
