Each ride-day the Light the Trail team will #Ride4 a victim of suicide to honor and celebrate their life, and to further healthy conversation about this important topic. If there’s someone you’d like us to #Ride4, please visit the #Ride4 page.
October 25th, 2017: #Ride4 William Parkinson (by Elizabeth Parkinson)
Tell us about them…
William, our middle son, was funny, sweet, & feisty. Beloved by family and friends. We so miss his laugh and the fact that he called us on our BS.
How has your perspective of depression and suicide shifted over time?
William suffered from Bipolar Disorder. I learned to live one day at a time when William suffered his manic episode and then was diagnosed. This served me well after he died in 2015. I think this is a philosophy all should strive to live by.
A small special way we can celebrate them on the road?
Enjoy the sunsets! He loved them.
Is there a particular favorite song or band of theirs, or one you remember them by?
Collie Man by Slightly Stoopid. I didn’t know the song was about weed until after he died…bet he chuckled upon my realization.
