Each ride-day the Light the Trail team will #Ride4 a victim of suicide to honor and celebrate their life, and to further healthy conversation about this important topic. If there’s someone you’d like us to #Ride4, please visit the #Ride4 page.

Tell us about them…
Dad was an avid outdoorsman. I am reminded of him whenever I am out in a canoe, skiing in the winter, see the big dipper on a clear night, and I can still feel his hug around me in his signature L.L.Bean blue and white wool sweater. He was adventurous, artistic and kind.
How has your perspective of depression and suicide shifted over time?
Mental Health/depression used to feel a bit made up to me, like it was something someone had the ability to control. I don’t feel that way anymore through his passing and devoting my life to understanding and supporting those with mental illness or suicide loss survivors.
A small special way we can celebrate them on the road?
If you see a soaring bird (like an Eagle or Hawk), his spirit lives on in them. Just take a minute to soak in that bird and enjoy its beauty and significance.
Is there a particular favorite song or band of theirs, or one you remember them by?
I will always think of him listening to Neil Young.
